Everest Base Camp Trek : Nepal
Trekking to Everest base camp in Nepal (5364m) is to follow in the footsteps of great mountaineers Mallory,Hilary,Tenzing,Bonnington and Messner. The Trek climbs through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the world to reach base camp. Most treks go to the Nepal Base Camp although there is one one the Tibetan side too. Most trekkers fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla it is a two day trek along the Dudh Kosi Valley to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the high Himalaya . From Lukla to Everest it is an 8+ trek climbing from 9000 ft to 18000 ft . During this time you will have a couple of days to acclimatise as trekking at altitude is best taken slowly to allow your body time to adjust to cope with lower oxygen levels.
Numerous teahuts and lodges line the route and your trusty sherpas will carry your luggage. If you ar epart of an orgainsed group all your accomodation, meals and transpotation will be taken care of. They will also advise you on how to do with the lower oxygen levels at altitude to minimise the affects of altitude sickness. You must be mountain fit before you go.
