India is renown for its stark contrasts between rich and poor but the friendlyness of the Indian people is just as well knowm. The North has the Himalayas and the Ganges and the east Goa and its occasionally dubious charms. Colnial history is still veryevident and no trip would be complete without visiting he Taj Mahal. The food is amazing and all of humanity is here- well worth a trip.

Indian Culture and History
Indian culture has been largley influenced by religion. Hinduism,Buddhism,Jainism and Sikhism started in India. Christianity and Islam arrived later.
The British East India Company pathed the way for colonisation by the British Empire and the Raj. India finally became independent in 1947 after seperation from the Moslem Pakistan. There are very strong links still with the UK and the UK has a strong Indian community. India has a film industry to rival Hollywood, nickmaned "Bollywood", films are colourful,musical nad flamboyant with a strong moral tone.
