Sea Kayaking Phang Nga Bay: Thailand
Sea kayaking the hidden caves of Phang Nga Bay in Thailand is a beautiful and unique experienece.40 limestone islands lay in Phong Nga Bay between the Malay Peninsula and the island of Phuket. The "hongs" or collapsed cave sysyems formed in in the limstone are a revelation as you paddle through the caves in a kayak. Sometines caverns with stalactites and stalacmites are around you sometimes the passages are so narrow you have to flatten yourself in the canoe. Eventually you burst out into the light into the interior "hong" or room. A collpased cavern open to the sky which towers hundreds of metres into the sky. Lush green vegetation has colonised the cliff walls. Some are up to 5km across. Adundant wildlife lives here, ot so keen on the 3m lizards though!
Organised trips are the best way to see the caves,perhaps over 3-5 days, with camping on the beach or park bungalows.
